Ken Walker

Ken Walker was born into the northwestern New Jersey suburbs in 1978 and spent the days of his youth riding a bicycle past miles of farmland and his nights hacking computers.

Ken was raised a Catholic and began to seriously explore his faith in high school, attending an evangelical church in a nearby town.  There, he was the recipient of  Jesus’ commandment to the disciples to love one another through the deep sincerity of mentors who each made an investment in the transformation happening in his life.

It was in that same church that Ken met Sarah. They married six years later in 2002 after a long-distance relationship spanning from the cornfields of  Ohio to inner-city New Jersey.

One year later, Ken and Sarah found a place for their faith to flourish at the Village Church. They were drawn eastward to Newark by their love for the church in New York and the prospect urban renewal in their home state.

Ken completed his undergraduate degree in computer science at Rutgers University in 2004. He works in risk management for a major financial firm in Manhattan.  He covers local news and tells the stories of people and organizations that are making an impact in his hometown at dailynewarker.com.

Ken and Sarah live with their two children at the last stop on the PATH train in Newark, NJ.
