The Village Church in Greenwich Village

Village Life

The Village Church will proudly be sponsoring our first Village Life event Sunday, May 29, 2005 at 2:00 PM. We'll be at the Bowery Poetry Club at 308 Bowery, between Houston & Bleecker, across the street from CBGBs. Take the F train to Second Ave, or the 6 train to Bleecker. More detailed directions are available here.

The event will feature local band June Fool. Rachel Federman of Dimestore Scenario describes their music this way:

The fleeting hooks and surging release of June Fool's latest incarnation—their darkest and most complex—conjures up traces of Rainer Maria, Portishead with an edge, or a PJ Harvey resigned to melody rather than anger. At moments a ghostly presence, at others bluesy and symphonic, with a guitar alternately soaring and irresistibly minimalist and bleak. Just when it feels like a collapse into the feels-so-bad-it's-good pain of emo, it turns grittier—streets of Detroit, from the gut. Like the best of modern indie/pop outfits, the power trio feels expansive and open, all the while keeping secrets.

Admission to Village Life will be completely free. For more information about the band, check out their Myspace page. See you there!
